Patrick Lanctot

Originally from Burlington, Ontario and a graduate of the Loyalist Television program my trade was in the film and television industry, specifically post production and video editing.  After years of freelance work in the film industry I began a full time position working for the CBC as a video editor in 2001. That was before I left the big bustling city of Toronto and a good job to pursue a dream of owning and operating a Motorcycle Retreat and Café.

My love for motorcycles began before I can remember but I started riding when I was 8. Since then I’ve owned over 40 bikes, some were rebuilt, some were bought new but most were just affairs of the heart that moved in and out of my life as time went on.

I’ve also had a few accidents along the way, I hit a deer on an 85 RZ500 when I was 18 and thanks to great riding gear I walked away - unfortunately the deer didn’t. Most recently a lady hit me on the Gardiner Expressway in Toronto on my 2001 CBR 600 F4i - that one kept me off work for almost 9 months but it didn’t keep me off my bike. I started shopping for a new bike and leathers as soon as I left the hospital.

I guess that’s why I’m such a strong advocate for proper riding gear and road safety - it’s the difference between walking away from an accident and not.  In fact when I first met my wife, one of our very first dates was at the Toronto Bike Show where we bought her some new gear, something a little less sexy and a lot more road -worthy.

In 2005 while working for the CBC, Angela came walking into my edit suite in bike leathers, not only was she a video editor it was obvious she had a motorcycle of her own. Working together and having so much in common got us talking about future adventures and I quickly found out that she was a doer not just a dreamer.   So we put our dreams in gear!

I still dabble in video editing focusing mainly on corporate contracts, but since our move to the Island I have also been pegged for doing simple web designs for small businesses.  I am currently working on the final designs and of course funding for the Cabot Trail Motorcycle Café.
